Grace Baptist Church of Glendale

About

We are a 50 year-old church in the heart of Glendale. The church went through significant decline in the 2000s. Though the Senior Pastor was a faithful expositor and Christ-centered preacher, the church of 150 people was 90% over the age of 70 by 2018. When the pastor turned the reins over to me (Gary Derbyshire) that year, I set to work returning us to a biblical model for church membership and creating a culture of discipleship among the church. We are now a church of 244 members, 15 deacons, and seven elders (three lay elders, four pastors) as of March of 2026. We have one worship service and do not intend to ever add another in order to preserve our fellowship and identity as a body. We do have a Spanish service that meets at the same time as the main service in another building, but it is a fully integrated ministry of our church and the Spanish Pastor and the Senior Pastor have the same sermon title, passage, and series. As we grow out of our space due to baptisms and other new members, we will either improve our existing facilities and/or plant new churches in our city. Our Mission We exist to glorify God through His Son Jesus Christ by Creating a culture of discipleship that leads to worship and compels us to be on mission. Our Vision Grace Baptist Church is a caring community of Christ-followers located in Glendale AZ., where the Bible is preached boldly, the gospel is communicated clearly, and every person is challenged to take their next step toward God.
